Mr. Ben Smith is passionate about all young people in Bermuda attaining optimal opportunities for success, irrespective of pathway. Mr. Smith has served as the Shadow Minister of Education and Sport since 2020. He has also held the Shadow National Security portfolio. He brings to politics a deep commitment to youth development, education, and community service. In addition to his parliamentary work, Mr. Smith serves as the Head national swim coach for Bermuda. Over several decades he has mentored hundreds of athletes, both in and out of the pool and has led national swim teams to victory in regional and international competitions.
Mr. Smith is compassionate and deeply cares
for people from all facets of the community. In Parliament, he has championed
initiatives to improve public education, strengthen support for teachers, and
promote greater access to sport and wellness programmes. His work focuses on
creating opportunities for Bermuda’s youth and ensuring a fair, accountable,
and forward-thinking government. Mr. Smith prefers to utilise a collaborative
approach where it pertains to the concerns of Bermudians and delivering
practical, people-focused solutions. He continues to advocate for policies that
promote equity, integrity, and long-term national development. Mr. Smith is
married and owns Nonna’s Kitchen Bermuda with his wife Katerina. He enjoys
spending time with loved ones in his spare time.
