On July 20th, 2017, the Hon. Wayne M. Caines, JP, MP, was appointed the Minister of National Security following the Progressive Labour Party’s (PLP) election victory on July 18th, 2017. Mr. Caines graduated from Oakwood University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a Minor in Political Science. He is also a graduate of the University of Kent, School of Law and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). Mr. Caines is the former CEO of Digicel Bermuda. He is also the founder and former CEO of SENIAC Consulting, a Telecommunications and Organizational Consulting Firm. He is a former Captain in the Bermuda Regiment and for seven years Mr. Caines served as a Crown Counsel at the Department of Public Prosecutions. He also served as the Senior Counsel at the Drug Court. Mr. Caines previously served as the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Premier and as a PLP Senator with responsibilities as the Junior Minister of Tourism, Transport, Environment and Sport. Minister Caines is a highly sought-after guest speaker with many appearances in Bermuda and overseas. In 2012, he was the Commencement Speaker at the Oakwood University. Mr. Caines is a member of a number of Civic Organizations and has served on various boards, both government and private sector including Stevedoring Services Ltd., the Bermuda Business Development Board, Member Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Member, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Member, CANTO (Caribbean Telecommunications Body) Regulatory and Emerging Technologies Committee and a member of the International Association of Business Leaders. Mr. Wayne Caines is married to Magistrate, Maxanne Anderson, and they are the proud parents of a twenty-year old daughter, Maxanne II.
