Ianthia Simmons-Wade has spent her entire career in healthcare and long-term care in the private, charity and government sectors. Politics and service have always played a significant part of her life having worked closely with her late husband, Frederick Wade and now as an Executive member of Constituency 29. She has served on numerous Boards most notably the Chair of the Bermuda Hospitals Board and Chair of the Sustainable Development Board. Her volunteerism has spanned over 40 years locally and internationally.  She was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement award for her work with the disabled and seniors. Ianthia Simmons Wade is a Berkeleyite who attained a Bachelors degree from Howard University and a Masters in Health Service Administration from George Washington University. The daughter of the Grace Eileen and the late Allan “Mr. Tennis” Simmons, she hails from Somerset.  Her great grandfather, William Joell, was the first elected Black Parliament and a founder of the Berkeley Institute. She is the proud mother of triplets, Ceola, Frederick and Kamela and grandmother to Suri. Senator Simmons-Wade is truly her “brother’s keeper” by always having the willingness to accept responsibilities for the welfare of her fellow Bermudians.
