• W. Michelle P. Simmons, JP

Mrs. W. Michelle P. Simmons, B. Sc. (Hons.), P.G.C.E., M.A. is the wife of Rev. Dr. Erskine C. Simmons and daughter of Marjorie and the late Phillip Grant.

She has enjoyed a 38-year teaching career, in Bermuda, England, and Nigeria. Her broad and differing experiences in these three countries, and in public and private schools helped her develop a global perspective on education and the role it plays in shaping societies.  For ten years she taught chemistry and physics, and eventually served as Secondary Department Head at Bermuda High School for Girls.  She then became the sixth Principal of The Berkeley Institute, her Alma Mater, where she led the school for just over twenty years, retiring from that post in August 2013.

She is a committed Christian and worships at the Anglican Cathedral, where she is a member of the choir and the Guild of the Good Shepherd.  At the Diocesan level, she serves on the Business Committee of the Bermuda Church Society.

Mrs. Simmons believes that service to the community is something that every member of society should do.  With God’s help, she is very happy to serve her community.
