Mr. Michael John Scott is currently the representative for Constituency 36, Sandy's North and the Shadow Minister of Public Safety. Mr. Scott is a lawyer and is the sole proprietor of a Somerset legal practice Browne, Scott. Prior to starting his own practice he was associated with the law firm, Browne and Wade Chambers.
Mr. Scott has been a legal practitioner and fully engaged in politics for over 20 years. He assisted in the General Election campaign in the constituency of Hamilton West in 1985. In 1989 he contested the constituency of Southampton West. He had fought this constituency in successive General Elections since 1989 until 1998. Following the 1998 election he was appointed a government Senator with responsibility for Legislative Affairs, Development and Opportunity and Telecommunication and E-Commerce.
In the 24 July 2003 General Election, he was reappointed to the Senate as the Minister of Legislative Affairs. Following the 4 March 2004 Bye Election, Mr. Scott became a Member of Parliament for Constituency 36 Sandy’s North and was reappointed as Minister. Mr. Scott earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Mount Allison University in English Literature and History. He was called to the English Bar in 1981, and is a Member of Middle Temple where he completed his pupillage at Kings Bench Walk London with a concentration in criminal and civil litigation.
